Kochi Franchise Withdraws from IPL League

With just two days left for the deadline to expire, the squabbling owners of Kochi’s Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise on Thursday wrote to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that they have failed to settle their ownership patterns and were, therefore, withdrawing from the league.

Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) secretary T.C. Matthew told media persons that the owners have informed the BCCI about their decision in a letter.

“I have been informed by some of the partners of the Kochi franchise that they have informed the BCCI about their decision to withdraw from the fourth season of the league. It is a very unfortunate incident for Kerala cricket,” said Matthew.

Despite getting a 30-day notice to settle their ownership pattern, the owners failed to sort out their internal problems. Anchor Earth, Parinee Developers, Rosy Blue and Film Wave hold 74 percent of the equity while the Gaekwad brothers, who own Rendezvous Sports World, own the remaining 26 percent stake as free equity for services rendered in successfully bidding for the franchise.

Pomegranate Juice is Good For Heart

Pomegranate Juice can help prevent cancer, is good for your heart and can even boost your sex life. Now, scientists believe that pomegranate juice has the power to reduce the fat around the stomach – the ’spare tyre’ in men or the ‘muffin top’ in women.

After just one month, volunteers who consumed a bottle of pomegranate juice daily were found to be less likely to develop fatty cells around their abdomen.

They also had much lower blood pressure, therefore reducing the risk of heart attacks, strokes and kidney disease, reports the Daily Mail.

Researchers from the University of Edinburgh believe pomegranate juice may lower the amount of fatty acid in the blood known as nonesterified fatty acid or NEFA.

Previous studies in humans and animals have shown that high NEFA levels are linked to a greater storage of fat around the abdomen as well as an increased risk of heart disease and Type II diabetes.

In the experiment, a group of men and women were given a 500ml bottle of pomegranate juice to drink every day for four weeks. Read more ›

Infolinks Paying Highest Revenue in Text Advertising

Infolinks Established in 2007, already leads the contextual advertising industry with the most attractive business model and guarantees the highest revenue sharing basis to all partners.

Infolinks is a Contextual Advertising company that provides relevant in-article text ads that customers actually want to click on, which in turn results in extra earnings for publishers. If you’re a regular visitor to you’ve noticed that we implement Infolinks ads throughout all of our articles. If this is your first visit to our site you can find those ads in this review or through the image below (Infolinks Ads in red):

Infolinks Ads

Once an ad has been clicked a pop-up immediately appears with relevant information based on the highlighted and underlined keyword. Here’s an example of the popup window users witness:

Infolinks Ads Pop up

So it seems simple, Infolinks picks a few words, highlights them and then hopes users click on those words, but in actuality the company uses complex algorithms to choose the best words in each article based on a variety of factor. Those factors include a contextual analysis of the pages HTML properties, URL, Article Title, Meta Tags, Custom Tags and Actual Content (Text). Using just one of those factors would provide a decent advertising link and some ad companies use just one or two factors, however Infolinks uses a weighted system which takes all of a sites on page factors into consideration, allowing for a higher ROI (return on investment) for each link that appears on the site.

One of our favorite aspects of ads is the simple fact that they make sense when placed on the page. Infolinks claims to use “Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, and other proprietary linguistic, semantic, and statistical algorithms” to best understand semantic relationships between their ad network and the publishers website, what we have noticed on BuzzyTimes is that their ads do in fact appear to make sense with the content on the page. What this has meant for BuzzyTimes is simple, when five words are highlighted on an “Apple iPad” page they tend to be related to Apple or iPad specific products, for example you won’t see the word “Apple” highlighted and then see ads for “Apple Pies,” they will typically involve Apple products that a reader may want to click through on just to learn more about the product. When ads are chosen based on a contextual link to the page the click-through rates and therefore CPM rates are much higher. Read more ›

Red Onions Help Prevent Heart Diseases and Reducing Bad Cholesterol

Researchers found that after eight weeks levels of bad cholesterol, or low density lipoprotein (LDL) in hamsters had dropped by an average of 20 per cent

The humble red onion, commonly used in Indian and Mediterranean cuisine, can help prevent heart disease, scientists have claimed.

Red Onions

Researchers at the Chinese University in Hong Kong found that red onion helps remove bad cholesterol from the body which is responsible for heart attacks and strokes. It also retains the body’s good cholesterol that in turn helps protect against heart disease, they said. Zhen Yu Chen, who led the research , said, “Despite extensive research on onions, little is known of how their consumption interacts with human genes and proteins involved in cholesterol metabolism within the body.”

“Our study was therefore undertaken to characterise the interaction of onions with enzymes in an attempt to explore the underlying cholesterollowering mechanism,” Zhen was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

“This study is the first of its kind to investigate the interaction of red onions with biological functions.”
For their study, the scientists fed crushed-up red onions to hamsters who had all been put on a high-cholesterol diet. They found that after eight weeks, levels of bad cholesterol, or low density lipoprotein (LDL), had dropped by an average of 20%.

But over the same time period there was no reduction in the hamsters’ high cholesterol levels, also known as high density lipoprotein (HDL), they said. “The results support the claim that the regular consumption of onion reduces the risk of coronary heart disease,” said Zhen. Read more ›
