Dem Candidate Says “Fire All Republicans” — Then “We Have Guns Too”

Indiana county council candidate Jaime West went viral after saying she would fire Republicans, blasting MAGA voters and ending a televised forum with one final message: “We have guns too.”

Local candidate forums are usually where democracy goes to discuss drainage budgets, zoning fights and whether somebody remembered to fix the county website. Jaime West apparently decided Fayette County, Indiana, needed something closer to cable-news fight night.

During a televised candidate forum, the Democratic county council candidate was asked to name an unpopular decision she would make if elected. Her answer was not a tax increase or a controversial spending cut. West said she would “fire all Republicans,” then kept going.

West blasted MAGA supporters as racist and unintelligent while saying there were still some “good Republicans” who understood her concerns. She also accused a sheriff’s nephew of threatening to shoot her, an allegation that immediately got even stranger when Fayette County Sheriff Zac Jones said he has five nieces and zero nephews.

Then came the closing line. Asked for a final message to voters, West looked into the camera and said, “We have guns too.” The moderator promptly moved on to voting information, which is about as close as public-access television gets to someone pulling the emergency brake.

The clip exploded across conservative social media, where critics mocked West’s delivery and accused her of appearing impaired. Fox News reported that West did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and there is no verified evidence establishing why her speech sounded the way it did.

That caveat matters because the actual quotes are already dramatic enough. There is no need to invent a diagnosis, a substance problem or a secret backstory when a candidate voluntarily gave the internet “fire all Republicans” and “we have guns too” in the same forum.

West is running against Republican Gary Keener Jr. in Fayette County. The race itself would normally receive almost no national attention, but one viral minute has now turned a county council contest into a national culture-war clip.

The sheriff’s response added another layer. Jones said he does not know West and flatly disputed her claim about a nephew threatening her, because he says no such nephew exists. That is the sort of fact-check that does not require a 40-page report.

West’s broader grievance was that MAGA politics and immigration enforcement have harmed her community and made political life more threatening. Those are political arguments voters can judge for themselves. The gun line, though, ensured almost nobody would be discussing local governance the next morning.

For BuzzyTimes purposes, the appeal is obvious: the story requires almost no embellishment. A Democrat running for county office says she would fire Republicans, insults MAGA voters, makes a disputed threat allegation and closes with “we have guns too.” Somewhere, a campaign consultant just quietly deleted the phrase “stick to the message” from the group chat.
